Choir in residence - Moorambilla

This week 70 singers from LEC will travel to Baradine and Coonamble to participate in the seventh Moorambilla Festival. LEC has participated in all seven festivals as choir-in-residence.

The Moorambilla Festival was created and is directed by LEC’s Artistic Director and Festival Artistic Director Michelle Leonard. Coonamble is her home town.

Singing with children from all over the outback shires of New South Wales, plus several schools from Sydney, the choir plays a pivotal role in promoting the benefits of singing, and mentoring children on how to do it!

This 7th festival brings together the wonderful choirs of Moorambilla Voices, now comprising 180 children from the far north west region of New South Wales.

Guest artists include internationally acclaimed ensembles Synergy Percussion, Continuum Sax and Zohar’s Nigun. The four day festival is a musical feast, with eighteen workshops ranging from singing the blues to physical theatre and creating local craft. Morning teas, jazz, markets, and concerts fill the days and nights!
